About

Hi, I’m Lindsey!

Welcome! I’m so happy you’re here. My name is Lindsey Baruch, and I’m the photographer, recipe developer, and cook behind Lindsey Eats. This is your place for all things recipes and entertaining. You’ll find a mix of recipe classics and weeknight dinners, in addition to seasonal snacks, appetizers, and so much more. My mission is simple: to inspire you to cook! To cook intuitively, to cook how you want, and to have fun while doing it!

About Me

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California in January 1995, age 29 as of writing this! I’ve always had a huge passion and love for photography since I was a little girl. I had my digital camera with me at all times, snapping of my family, friends, and experiences.

I also had a huge passion for cooking, and first began combining the two in 2011 sharing photos of recipes I was cooking, but Lindsey Eats didn’t officially come to life until the latter half of college, in 2014. I started eating often at Los Angeles restaurants, and opened an Instagram account to highlight just that! It eventually expanded into recipe development and cooking photography, something I had always dreamed of diving deeper into! I graduated from UCLA with a Bachelors in History in 2016, working on growing my social media in tandem.

When it was finally time to graduate, I dipped my toes into other jobs within the industry, starting with an internship at Eater LA, and then social media management for restaurants and food brands, managing marketing and creator relationships. It was then in 2018 that I was finally ready to take Lindsey Eats full-time, and here we are!

I LOVE food, and I LOVE cooking. My love for food not only stems from all the inspiration and diversity of food and culture LA (and traveling!) has to offer but also an ode to my family and cultural heritage. I’m Iraqi, and my grandparents are from India and Burma. My family customs, cuisine, and traditions stem from this Iraqi-Indian background.

I currently reside in LA with my husband, Danny, and our Australian Shepherd, Cotta (short for ricotta cheese).

Fun Facts About Me

  • You’ll find me at the Farmer’s Market every Sunday morning, as early as possible!
  • I love to go on walks and hikes with Cotta and Danny, grocery shop (and thrift shop!), and travel to new places.
  • I love to run! I ran my first half marathon in 2023, and I hope to train at some point to run my first full marathon.
  • I do a lot of yoga, meditate (every day!), breathwork, journal, and read.
  • I’m open to try all different types of cuisines and flavors, always exploring at new restaurants and learning from friends and family. There is nothing I won’t try! I am constantly exploring, eating, and traveling to try new ingredients.

What You’ll Find Here

At Lindsey Eats, you can expect:

  • Approachable Recipes: I strive to keep my recipes fairly simple, without compromising any flavor.
  • Cooking Lesson: I always try to teach something in the recipe, whether that be a cooking technique or introducing a new ingredient or flavor profile.
  • Restaurant-Worthy: I’m constantly learning something new from eating at restaurants, and I strive to emulate that in my recipes. I want my recipes to be something you can easily replicate at home, without compromising flavor or time, providing a restaurant-quality meal!
  • Seasonal Ingredients: I tend to cook by the season, highlighting the best ingredients all year long according to what’s in season.
  • Home-Cook Friendly: I’m a home cook. I want these recipes to be accessible, and approachable. Albeit, I like a good timely project, like Braised Short Ribs, or Homemade Focaccia Dough and you’ll see that in some of our recipes, but most of the recipes you’ll see here just include a short list of ingredients, minimal equipment, and the least amount of dishes to make it as possible. It’s about highlighting the ingredients! Less is more.
  • Recipe Testing: All our recipes at Lindsey Eats are tested until perfect, and if they’re not perfect, they’re not shared. They go through a thorough process, with rounds of testing before being added to the site.
