Chimichurri Sauce

This is what I call the best sauce ever! This chimichurri sauce recipe is easy, delicious and can be served on SO many dishes. You NEED this sauce in your life! Serve over grilled steak or beef (or as a protein marinade), shrimp, in a salad, over eggs for breakfast, chicken, grilled vegetables, use as a dip with bread or anything your heart desires! The flavors are tangy and SO delicious.

What is chimichurri sauce made of?

Chimichurri is a popular Argentina and Uruguay condiment made of finely chopped herbs (such are parsley) garlic, olive oil and red wine vinegar.

What do I serve chimichurri with? Some ideas below!

What ingredients do you need for the best chimichurri sauce recipe?

Vinegar: You can use red wine vinegar, sherry vinegar, white distilled vinegar, or really any vinegar that you have on hand! If you don’t have vinegar, you can sub with lemon juice or lime juice.

Fresh herbs: For this sauce we are using fresh cilantro, fresh flat-leaf parsley and green onions!

Garlic and shallots: You can also use red onion here!

What ingredients can you add to this sauce? Anything from red pepper flakes to fresh oregano (or dried oregano!) or fresno peppers for some heat.

Instructions to make this chimichurri recipe

Make your chimichurri by pulsing (using a food processor) or finely chopping shallots, garlic cloves and jalapeño. Then add your cilantro, fresh parsley, green onions and kosher salt to taste.

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar and 1/2 cup of olive oil. Set aside in the refrigerator until ready to serve!

You can store any leftover sauce into ice cub trays too and store in the freezer!

Chimichurri Sauce

Ingredients 

  • 1 shallot
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 jalapeño
  • 1 bundle cilantro
  • 1 bundle parsley
  • 1/4 cup green onions
  • 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt to taste

Instructions 

  • Make your chimichurri by pulsing or finely chopping shallots, garlic cloves and jalapeño. Then add your cilantro, parsley, green onions and kosher salt to taste.
  • Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar and 1/2 cup of olive oil. Set aside in the fridge until ready to serve!
