Recipe Ingredients
Below are the ingredients you need to make this recipe, including all our tips and substitutions.
Truffle oil: Choose the best quality truffle oil you can find. We used white truffle oil, but you can use black truffle oil if that’s what you find. Bonus points if you are able to access fresh white or black truffles to shave over the fries!
French fries: Frozen french fries are super convenient and easy to use, and you can also always have them available in your freezer. However, you can also use our homemade French fries for this recipe using Russet potatoes.
Parmesan: Freshly grated, for that nutty, cheesy flavor. Use Pecorino Romano if you don’t have Parmesan at hand.
Seasonings: We used Kosher salt and some ground black pepper.
Parsley: Chopped fresh, to garnish and finish the fries.
The full list of ingredients with exact quantities can be found on the recipe card below.
Tips and Substitutions
- Use truffle salt: To deepen the umami flavor, you can use truffle salt instead of Kosher salt to season the fries.
- Try toppings: Keep it simple and use chopped fresh herbs like parsley (and experiment with others like rosemary and thyme), or toss the fries with a spoonful of Garlic Confit for some extra savory flavor. Even some freshly grated garlic tossed with the truffle fries would work great!
- For Parmesan: You can use pecorino romano instead of parmesan for these fries.
- Reheating instructions: There’s nothing sadder than cold, soggy fries. But guess what? They’re easy to reheat. Just pop them in the air fryer or a preheated oven for a few minutes until they crisp up again.
How to Make Parmesan Truffle Fries
Step 1: Preheat your oven or Air Fryer to 400 degrees and get your frozen fries ready. If you’re baking the fries, line the baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the fries on it in a single layer.
Step 2: Bake the fries until golden brown and crispy. This should take 25-30 minutes in the oven and 15-20 minutes in the Air Fryer, flipping halfway.
Step 3: Once your fries are ready, add them to a large mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper, truffle oil, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese to toss.
Step 4: Transfer the fries to a serving platter and top with more Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs.
The full detailed instructions can be found on the recipe card below.

Parmesan Truffle Fries FAQs
We wouldn’t recommend that. Using it for cooking will destroy its beautiful aroma. We like to use truffles, or truffle oil sparingly, as it tends to be more expensive than other oils, and works best as a finisher!
Truffle oil has an earthy, mushroom-like flavor. It is filled with umami and works well with salty and savory dishes.
Truffles are a type of mushroom, subterranean fungus. They are edible, pungent, and pretty expensive in their purest form. Using truffle oil is a cheaper alternative to whole truffles that give the essence of a truffle. They work really well with the fries in this recipe!
